Alex Lawther and Abigail Breslin star in this US comedy drama directed by Trudie Styler. The film follows Billy Bloom (Lawther), an openly gay teenager who faces constant hardship at his conservative high school due to his eccentric nature. With his mother Muv (Bette Midler) entering rehab, Billy is sent to stay with his wealthy father who also struggles to come to terms with his son's lifestyle.

Determined to live life his own way, the confident Billy causes controversy when he stands against his classmate Lynette (Breslin) for the title of homecoming queen.
